Overview

First congratulations! You’ve made it this far which is amazing. Dedicated can be scary but it is definitely doable.

I will say I focused very heavily on Georgetown’s in-house curriculum and felt extremely prepared content-wise when I started dedicated. I started studying a little bit before- did 10ish Uworld questions per week and an in-depth review (watching associated videos, reviewing FA, etc…). I also rewatched all of Sketchy Micro which I found to be super helpful. I took about 5 weeks for dedicated so I did not take full days off but still made time to workout daily, cook, and take at least 1 evening off per week to see friends. I know others who preferred to take a full 1-2 days off per week and took their exam a little later so it’s definitely personal preference. There definitely is no 1 “right way” but these are just a couple strategies that worked for me!

Resources Used

Uworld

This was the framework for my studying. I aimed for 2 blocks per day with 2-3 hours for review of each block. I then used this review to target my content review through videos, FA, etc. All of my blocks were done on untutored and timed mode. I found this helpful because it closely mimicked Step and I didn’t have to go back later to figure out timing. I did not use Uworld scores to gauge my readiness, I used them truly for learning and NBMEs for self-assessment.

NBMEs

These are the “full length” exams for step and they are used to gauge readiness, the % chance of passing and EPC are really important to understand if you’re ready for step. I took these in a “testing environment” (took only scheduled breaks, no phone, etc…). I did add 2 UWorld blocks after each one to mimic the full length of the step. I also took at least 1 full day to review each and identify testing strategy and content gaps.

Anki

I pretty much just used the AnKing step deck. I would unsuspend relevant UWorld cards and cards from any content review resource I used. I did limit my reviews to 400 per day to avoid spending hours on anki rather than content review (but this was 100% personal preference). The only time I made my own cards was for NBMEs.

Content review resources

Bootcamp (short for specific topics), pathoma (path concepts as a whole→ chapters 1, 2, 3 are good for foundation), Sketchy (Micro 100% and as needed otherwise), other youtube videos (I found the Ninja Nerd murmurs videos to be extremely helpful). I did not do a dedicated content review period, I just targeted it based on Uworld.

General schedule

This was an outline- I did not by any means follow it exactly!

Good luck and feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
