Admissions Interview Eligibility and Process for GEMS Scholars
The Georgetown Experimental Medical Studies (GEMS) Program and Georgetown University School of Medicine (GUSOM) jointly uphold a formal linkage agreement designed to enhance the academic advancement and professional preparation of scholars from disadvantaged backgrounds who aspire to careers in medicine. This policy establishes the criteria and procedures governing admissions interview eligibility for GEMS scholars seeking entry to the Georgetown University School of Medicine.
1. Guaranteed Interview Eligibility
GEMS scholars who fulfill all of the following requirements will be granted a guaranteed admissions interview with Georgetown University School of Medicine:
- Achieve a final score of 85% or higher in all graduate biomedical courses and GUSOM modules.
- Satisfy all established professional standards of conduct and performance.
- Submit all required application materials by their respective deadlines.
Scholars meeting these criteria will receive a guaranteed interview for admissions consideration.
2. Interview Consideration via Holistic Review
GEMS scholars who fulfill all of the following requirements will be considered for an admissions interview through a holistic review process:
- Achieve a final score between 78% and 84% in all graduate biomedical courses and GUSOM modules.
- Satisfy all established professional standards of conduct and performance.
- Submit all required application materials by their respective deadlines.
Scholars meeting these criteria will be reviewed holistically and may be invited to interview for admissions consideration.
