Summer Research Opportunities & Mitchell Summer Research Scholarship
Every year, the M1 class is invited to participate in several summer research programs that have been created by the Office of the Dean and the MedStar Health Research Institute (MHRI). These summer research opportunities provide students with access to numerous faculty mentors in all of the medicine specialties. These research programs begin during the summer between the M1 and M2 years and provide students with a framework for their ISPs. Funding support is provided by the GUSOM Office of the Dean and MHRI. A brief overview of these programs is as follows:
- ~ 7- weeks program that runs from mid-June through the end of July
- Stipend provided: ($2000 -$5000)
- Weekly didactic lectures on various research related topics
- A capstone conference in the fall semester
